Show Notes

Three Things

Carly

  • Listening: To CDs by necessity, but loving the Black Keys album Brothers which has aged very, very well
  • Loving: Fall, yes she is recommending an entire season, but if you live anywhere with fall foliage, take a walk and soak it up
  • Listening pt 2: To the Morally Indefensible podcast, a “companion” to the upcoming FX docuseries A Wilderness of Error, inspired by the book of the same name by Errol Morris

Dan

  • Listening: To Ariel Posen, whose work Dan describes the definition of putting compelling art in front of people predisposed to care. Side note: the Bros. Landreth are not related to Sonny Landreth...or are they?
  • Sharing: But, not necessarily recommending, Machine Gun Kelly’s newest album, produced by Travis Barker, mainly because it is one of the first music cycles he’s living through. Welcome to old age, Dan!
  • Listening pt 2: To Pluralone’s latest song The Night Won’t Scare Me

George

  • Listening: To Monk’s Palo Alto album, an album recorded in a high school auditorium in Palo Alto. If he were forced to choose his favorite artists, Monk just may be it
  • Listening pt 2: To the reissued Prince album Sign O’ The Times that has 97 bonus tracks (!!!)
  • Reading: Liz Phair’s biography Horror Stories and quoting her “What I want is for the whole fabric of society to improve. I'm tired of women having to call out men for their violence against us. Police your own damn selves. You do these awful things to us, and then it's somehow our responsibility to get you to change.”
