Show Notes

- Wear a mask! But also pants, unless you are a woman who lives in Arizona or a horse trying to get into Fountain Inn, South Carolina
- The conversation took a big detour into accountability and Dan didn’t actually get to talk about it, but here’s his recap of the Recording Academy Panel Generating Revenue from Live Stream & Broadcast Platforms (sorry Dan!)
- If you don’t have Carly’s epiphanic witchy skills, Esquire has done the heavy lifting for you in their article David Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive' Explained or you can watch it on Criterion here
- Read Harlan Coben’s books or watch trailers to get to know his work
- Carly’s motivation sure is a myth these days but she’s experimenting with time blocking

- Too many newsletters? Unroll yourself! Too many tabs open? Pocket them!
- Is neumorphism the new skeumorphic design language?

- We’ll keep reminding you to join our Slack channel until we see you all there! We want your work, your recommendations, your feedback
- Book club, anyone? (We promise it won’t be a cookbook about QuickBooks)
- Cookin' with Coolio, but beware, you’ll need to know how to convert dime bags to tablespoons
Three Things
George
- Quoting: Haruki Murakami’s poignant and timely take: “Maybe working on the little things as dutifully and honestly as we can is how we stay sane when the world is falling apart”
- Listening: To (and nailing the pronunciation of) Éliane Radigue’s Trilogie De La Mort, influenced by a Tibeatean’s monk insistence that she make more music
- Watching: The WattStax documentary about the 1972 Watts Summer Festival put on to commemorate the anniversary of the Watt riots
Carly
- Using: The dictate feature on Microsoft Word as a free alternative to SpeedScriber’s paid transcription tool
- Buying: Books from Verso, “the largest independent radical publishing house.” They have a wide variety of series and reading lists and also offer a selection of free ebooks. If you have any suggestions for online book stores, please share!
- Reading: Audre Lorde’s Sister Outsider, unfortunately not available on Verso, a collection of her essays and speeches that cover topics like oppression in its various forms, love, war, violence against Black women, motherhood
Dan
- Using: The easy to say Audio-Technica ATH-M50xWH Professional Studio Monitor Headphones in white, definitely not black (as recommended by Luke Niccoli)
- Reading: Derek Sivers’ Anything You Want, recounting his story of starting CD Baby and the lessons he learned along the way
- Listening: To Phoebe Bridgers Punisher, and wondering why more indie artists don’t collaborate on tracks and albums
